A Little About Sugarloaf
Hi, I’m Katie, baker behind Sugarloaf, a small-batch, micro bakery nestled in the outskirts of Madison, Wisconsin, and dedicated to crafting naturally leavened sourdough breads and wholesome baked goods that celebrate simplicity, flavor, and comfort. Every batch is mixed, shaped, and baked by hand using slow fermentation and thoughtfully-sourced ingredients, yielding unforgettable bites filled with depth, texture, and soul.
Twice weekly pickups are at Steve’s on University Avenue in Madison, making it easy to bring fresh sourdough and small-batch sweets straight to your home. Delivery to the lower 48 is available for a flat fee. Stay in the loop on bake days and pickup times by signing up for notifications, and experience the warmth of traditional baking, one golden loaf (or gooey cookie) at a time.

Chocolate chip cookies were my first love.
Before I was 10 years old, I knew that I loved being in the kitchen. Baking, to be specific.
But my story doesn’t start with intoxicating aromas and generations of women pulling me to the kitchen as many bakers’ would. Rather, it came from a place of scarcity around food; sweet treats to be specific.
In my youngest years, I can recall being limited to and advised about how sweets and processed foods would affect my body. Growing up in the age of Jane Fonda, aerobics, cardio bunnies and weight watchers, it’s easy to see how thoughts of scarcity would imprint on someone, especially a young girl.
Many years later, I have found myself living with a much healthier mindset, embracing all foods and all reasons to enjoy them! But my quest for the perfect chocolate chip cookie - comforting in every way - was the slow burn catalyst to eventually opening Sugarloaf Microbakery.
Thank you for taking the time reading this. I am so glad you’re here.
